OSFI reminds P&C insurers to document their B.C. and Quebec earthquake exposures

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is reminding federally regulated property and casualty insurers that companies with earthquake exposure in British Columbia and Quebec are must file the form with OSFI by Apr. 15, 2012.
Companies without earthquake exposure should submit a letter stating this fact.
“Due to the change in the Cresta Zone definitions from that used in the current version of the form, some companies may not be able to complete the Total Sum Insured portion of the form and thus, not be able to calculate the default PMLs [probable maximum losses],” an OSFI statement reads. “If

Known the world over for a nearly fanatical brand loyalty, Harley-Davidson may well rival Coca-Cola for pure global brand recognition. So H-Ds latest ad campaign, aimed at dispelling the stereotype of Harley owners as bearded, leather-clad ruffians, focuses on who the owners of their machines really are and what theyre like.

WHO : tobacco industry is a devious enemy

World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Margaret Chan on Tuesday decried the tobacco industry as a ruthless and devious enemy and urged governments and civil society groups to unite against cigarette firms.
Speaking at a conference on tobacco and health in Singapore, the WHO director-general slammed cigarette companies for undermining a UN-backed campaign against tobacco use and its associated health risks.

The enemy, the tobacco industry, has changed its face and its tactics. The wolf is no longer in sheeps clothing, and its teeth are bared. Chan said moves by cigarette firms to challenge the legality of government measures to protect public health amounted to interference in countries domestic affairs.
