Car Insurance for Female Drivers
Posted on November 24th, 2009
We all know that not all drivers are alike. Some are a little heavy on the gas pedal and others like to multi-task when they drive. These are the kinds of drivers that usually pay a little more for their insurance than the rest of us. There was a time when car insurance for female drivers was more expensive than that for male drivers, but that is no longer the case.
Car insurance for female drivers used to be expensive because many women drivers did not learn to drive as teenagers. Many women only learned to drive when they “had” to drive, in other words, after they had children, or when their husbands took jobs that were far away. It was not unusual for a woman in her 30s or 40s to still not know how to drive. Because of so many new female drivers on the road with no driving experience, the insurance rate for females as a whole because high.
But that is no longer the case. Studies certainly do prove that female drivers are as good, or better, than male drivers and they also tend to exhibit much less road rage and propensity for speeding and aggressive driving. Car insurance for female drivers reflects that difference in the price. If you are a woman who is looking for car insurance for you and your family, you should almost always put the insurance in your name and have your husband and children as add-on drivers to your policy. That is an easy way to get the best price for your policy.
You can’t say a bad thing about “women drivers” any more, although comedians like to do it. Yes, you will still see a woman putting on her make-up while she’s driving, but aren’t all of us multi-tasking at one time or another?
