Is it true that insurance companies use Facebook to check up on you?

Facebook is a great way to stay in contact with friends and family in the 21st century. Unfortunately, it is also a great way for others to monitor you. Some insurance companies are using Twitter, Facebook, and other social media to check on individuals with suspicious claims. Right now social media searches are focused on combating fraud. This practice is still in its infancy, but could develop into a regular practice. A good rule of thumb is to remember that everything you do and say on Facebook can be seen by everyone.
