How many points will I get for texting and driving in New York?
Posted on July 22nd, 2011
New York does not allow texting while driving and has classified it as a primary offense. This means that you can be pulled over if caught texting. Not only is texting illegal but so is the use of hand-held and fixed cell phones. If you are convicted of texting and driving, or any other cell phone use, you will be facing an additional three points on your license. If you get 11 points within 18 months, your license could be suspended or revoked. New York has joined 34 other states by banning texting and making it a primary offense.
